FAQ
How do you know what's at my local store?
We take nightly inventory snapshots from the FWGS website, store by store, for a curated set of hunt-worthy products. We don't have real-time stock — that data isn't public — but we have a daily read on what was on the shelf overnight. Browse the PA store directory to find yours.
How often do you update?
Inventory updates nightly. New Whiskey Release announcements and Limited-Release Lottery entries refresh four times a day. The product catalog refreshes nightly along with inventory. Manufacturer rebates are curated by hand; we update them as new rebates appear and re-verify existing ones.
What's a delivery day?
Most FWGS stores get a truck on a regular weekday. If you know what day your store gets stocked, you know the best day to hunt allocated bottles. See how we figure that out.
Why is some data missing?
We're honest about uncertainty. If a delivery day is "low confidence" we leave it blank rather than guess; same for any product field we can't parse cleanly. The system gets better as community use grows.
Is the inventory in real-time?
No. It's a nightly snapshot. If a delivery comes Tuesday morning and you check the site Tuesday afternoon, the snapshot still reflects Monday night's stock. That's why delivery days matter.
Will you buy or sell bottles for me?
No. Pennsylvania law prohibits unlicensed bottle sales, and even if it didn't, that's not what we do. We aggregate public information so you can make informed trips to stores you're already visiting.
How do I get email alerts?
Email alerts are free for everyone with an account. Sign in, set the bottles you want to track on your hunt list, and we'll email you when a matching drop, lottery, or sighting fires. See SMS vs email alerts for the channel differences.
How do I get SMS alerts?
SMS alerts are a small monthly subscription — text messages cost us money per send, and we'd rather charge people who want them than thread a banner ad through a free site. Email alerts will always stay free. Pricing details are on the pricing page.
Is it really free?
Yes. The website, the data, the rebate directory, and email alerts are all free. The only paid feature, ever, will be SMS alerts.
Are you affiliated with the PLCB or FWGS?
No. We're an independent directory of public information. The PLCB runs Fine Wine & Good Spirits; we don't.
Who can use Bottle Hunt?
Pennsylvania residents 21 or older. We confirm with a self-attestation at signup; we don't collect IDs or birth dates.
Can I report a delivery I saw?
Yes — that's a big part of how this works. Each store page has a report form; pick a day, optionally tell us what you saw delivered, submit. Reports feed straight into the delivery-day calculation. Browse the stores directory to find yours.
How do I delete my account?
Email hello@bottlehunt.net from the address on file and we'll wipe the account. We're a small operation — a real human reads your email.
