How Bottle Hunt PA works
A quick walkthrough of where the data comes from and what you can do with it.
1. We monitor FWGS listings
Pennsylvania's Fine Wine & Good Spirits system publishes new whiskey releases publicly on its website. Bottle Hunt checks those listings several times per hour and records every new product the moment it appears. We call these "drops."
Inventory and drop data is sourced from public FWGS listings. Availability changes frequently and is not guaranteed — a product that appears in a drop may sell out before you arrive. Call the store to confirm.
2. Alerts go out the moment we detect a drop
Sign up free and we'll email you when drops, lotteries, or ghost drops match your want list. Email alerts are free for everyone.
Upgrade to the paid tier ($5.99/mo or $49/yr) to receive SMS alerts. SMS fires before email for paid subscribers — so you see it on your lock screen, not buried in your inbox.
3. The lottery calendar
The PLCB runs a Limited-Release Lottery for highly allocated bottles. Bottle Hunt tracks open and upcoming lottery windows and sends a reminder before each entry deadline.
4. Sightings
Hunters report what they find in stores. You can post a sighting from any product or store page. Sightings are user-submitted and are not verified by Bottle Hunt PA — call the store to confirm before making a trip.
5. Ghost drops
Occasionally, a new product appears in the FWGS catalog without a formal drop announcement. Bottle Hunt's ghost-drop detector catches these and notifies subscribers — we call them ghost drops because they show up without fanfare.
